NMTC Supports CHIPS – Newcastle Hospitals Charity
We’re delighted to announce that NMTC has donated £1,000 to support CHIPS, the Children’s Holistic Integrated Palliative Service, funded through Newcastle Hospitals Charity. Earlier this week, we had the honour of meeting with Rebecca and Helen from the CHIPS team to present the donation and learn more about their vital work.
CHIPS is a specialist palliative care service based at the Great North Children’s Hospital. They support babies, children, and young people with serious or life-limiting conditions, along with their families. Although palliative care is often associated with end-of-life, CHIPS focuses on improving quality of life at every stage of a child’s journey.
Their work includes:
Offering advice, emotional support, and symptom management for children and families
Helping families navigate difficult decisions and plan ahead
Coordinating end-of-life care when needed, whether in hospital, at home, or in hospice
Providing bereavement support
Training and supporting healthcare teams across the region
CHIPS works not only in Newcastle but across the wider North East and North Cumbria, reaching families in many different settings.
Why This Matters to NMTC
Supporting our local community is incredibly important to us, and the work CHIPS does is truly vital. They provide compassionate, specialist care during some of the most challenging moments a family can face. We’re proud that our donation will help them continue delivering this essential support.
A Big Thank You
A huge thank you to Rebecca and Helen for meeting with us, and to the whole CHIPS team for the work they do every day. And of course, thank you to everyone in the NMTC community — your support makes contributions like this possible.
